Recent Run Report

Feb. 28th

Well we had another Snow Run to Brokeoff Meadows with Herb and Mary in the lead.  We all met at Holiday Market in Palo Cedro around 8 am had the customary Coffee and Donuts and headed east on 44.  Eight vehicles left the parking lot and eight made it back.

To make things a little different we went out emigrant trail from Shingletown,  Some nice scenery and found more houses out there than you can imagine.  Not much snow in this area but the mud puddles were getting to be the size of ponds.  In fact I thought I saw a couple of fish along the way!  Well maybe not but they were getting deep.

I think every one was feeling a little like teenagers squireling around in the snow along the road way at least until it go deep enough that Rocky had to winch himself out.  No loss here he parked the truck and went rode the rest of the way with his folks. (I am sorry I didn't catch Rocky's girlfriends name).

As the snow got deeper, Robbie took over breaking trail, of course he had an advantage lighter weight and more engine just little details.   The little jeeps once again proved that if you don't have at least 6" lift and 35" tires you will get stuck.  OH well its all part of the adventure.  The final straw came when me the Prez with my baby jeep started getting stuck more than I could proceed forward.  But I eventually found out that about a 1/2 mile ahead the snow was starting to take a toll on Robbie's rig too even he was struggling to maintain forward momentum.  So we all started to turn around to head back.

Oh did I mention the weather was beautiful couldn't have asked for a nicer day for a run like this.

As usual everyone made it back to civilization with no breakdowns.  We proceeded to head into Redding and had lunch at Pizza Hut.  It sure is nice to get everyone together like this.

Thanks to everyone that showed up and made this a memorable run.  Red Bob and Gwen, Robbie, Herb and Mary, Rocky and his lovely sidekick, Jim SIms, John , Jackie, Boomer and Abbie, Myself, and Ed, Cyndie and Bear.

Time to start thinking about our next run, this time heading out into the OHV Park .

Presidents Corner

Oh my can you believe it is March already
It's like we just celebrated XMAS and New Years.

Any way the Cal 4 Convention has been here and gone, Bob Cole was our club representative and can answer any  questions you may have about it.

NO nobofy from the club won the Raffle Jeep
it went to a guy from Minnesota, I think is what Bob said.

Sierra Trek we need to make up our minds if we are going to go, it seems as though we may have already lost the Thursday Nite Dinner and we haven't even decided whether or not we were going or not!

I will be positng Sierra Trek, Markleeville, Rat Pack / Black Sheep run, District meeting Pictures to the Website as soon as I get them.

Hope to see you all at the next meeting.

Sierra Trek,  August
As of this writing it is  STILL unclear as to whether or not we will be at Sierra Trek this coming  August.

It has been decided by Trek Commitee that the base camp will be moved back to Meadow Lake which means pulling trailers, fifth wheels and driving Motor Homes over some pretty rough terrain, and of course Dry Camping.

There was talk at convention about grading the road into the lake, and the Forest Service quickly said NO!    Bob was told at convention that another club has the Thursday nite dinner supposedly it is a communication break down and they are to share the duties with us but they seemed pretty set on taking it over.  If we lose this we lose our commitee entry pricing and the best commitee to have as you get it out of the way the first nite.  SO lets think about our Future with Sierra Trek.
